Submissions

We are looking for people who want to spend a long time on one idea, and we would rather read a pitch than a finished piece.

What we publish

Long essays, short graphic strips, and filmed lectures — across philosophy, mind, society, science, culture and history. One subject, taken seriously, at whatever length it actually needs.

How it works

An editor reads your application and answers it. If we take you on, you get a studio account, you draft in it, and an editor reads each piece before it goes live. Nothing publishes without a person agreeing to it — including ours.

What we pay

70% of every sale. Readers buy a paid piece for Ksh 50; after the payment provider's fee, 70% of what is left is yours, earned the moment it sells. A month's sales can be withdrawn to M-Pesa or a bank once the month closes. Free pieces are read, not sold, and earn nothing.

Your application

A proposal, not a placement — editors move people all the time.

A paragraph or two. What the work is, and why you are the person to do it.

A link, or attach a PDF or an image of it. It does not have to be published.

We answer every application, including the ones we decline.
